Some Thoughts About Travel

A lot of people think about travel, I know I do, I think about travel constantly. I think most people think about it as much as I do or more. Most people work so much and have so much going on with Career, Family, Kids, and just life in general, their not able to go anywhere, except for short trips one or two days a week or month. Actually most let themselves get tied up with the old ball and chain called work, and think they cant or don't have the time. Most companies allocate at least a vacation once a year to their employees and they also allocate so much leave time in the form of sick and vacation usually monthly. But overall most companies will allocate at least a one or two week vacation once per year.

I tell people that if you want to travel just plan ahead for it and save back some money. While your at work your most likely going to hear about somebody that had went somewhere really cool on their vacation, or somebody else that went somewhere really cool for a couple days over the weekend. Then you have those that never go anywhere, and one of those somebody's could be you. So if you want to travel, whether it be an overnight or a week or two long excursion. Just step up and say to yourself, I'm going to do this. So here's what you do.

Start out slow if you want and plan a day trip to a Zoo or Museum or anywhere else. I think you'll find that after a couple of times of going on day trips you'll start getting the travel bug and you'll want to do more and longer trips. Just start setting aside a few dollars out of each paycheck and you might find yourself spending less during the week and at work so you'll have more money to to travel on.  Here are some ideas for you to think about that I've done.

(One of my favorite road trips was to the Florida Everglades where we brought along our camping gear and bicycles. We stayed in a KOA camping cabin in Naples that we used for a base camp. In the afternoons we'd drive around and check out the local area. One day we took highway 41 through the Everglades and toured other areas of south Florida. had a really good time, all on a very small budget.)

(Travel can be as expensive or as inexpensive as you choose to make it. If you live like a local once you get there. For example, bring along a cooler and go to the grocery store, instead of dining out 3 times a day, go for the slow and authentic experience rather than flashy hotels and bungee jumping every day, it costs a lot less)
